New media regulations in AP soon

Hyderabad, Jan 11:With no authority to regulate the media, in particular the electronic media, the state is proposing to appeal to the Centre  to formulate fresh guidelines to regulate the media  in the state.In the aftermath of the arrest of journalists of electronic media and the follow of protests across the state, Dr Ms J Geetha Reddy, Minister for Information assured the representatives of the media that the Government will not curb the freedom of the press.

Referring to the complaints coming from some quarters that justice had not been meted out in the selection of best journalist awards, she said the ministry will look into the affairs and ensure that these things will not recur.With reference to the recent High Court judgment on the allotment of house sites to journalists, she said `` I will take the matter with the Chief Minister and appraise him of the latest developments.’’The Nandi Natakotsava Awards festival will be held at Khammam from January 30 to February 7, she added.
