Dhanush Speech At OM Event Sparks Political Buzz

Tamil star Dhanush has finally reacted to rumours about his possible political entry and alleged links with the BJP. Speaking at the audio launch of his upcoming film OM in Chennai on Friday, the actor dismissed claims that someone was backing or guiding him politically. He said God, his fans and the public were his only support.

Dhanush also spoke about his plans to support students through education initiatives. He announced that four free air conditioned tuition centres would be launched this year, with a target of expanding the network across all 234 Tamil Nadu constituencies by next year. The initial centres are planned in Chennai and Kanyakumari, although the announced numbers for these locations are yet to be clarified.

Dhanush urged youngsters to understand politics and learn about public affairs instead of staying away from political discussions. Meanwhile, reports about a proposed political outfit named Tamilaga Ezhuchi Kazhagam and plans to establish a network of 3,000 legal advisors across Tamil Nadu have fuelled further speculation. However, Dhanush has not officially confirmed launching a political party.

Dhanush also apologised to fans who could not enter the Om audio launch despite having valid passes, saying he accepted responsibility and would prevent such problems in future. On the film front, Om is scheduled for a November 20 release, featuring Sai Pallavi and Mammootty. Directed by Rajkumar Periasamy, the film has music by Sai Abhyankkar and is produced under Wunderbar Films and Arotec Studios. Renowned Production House Sithara Entertainments is releasing the film in Telugu.
