PVR INOX Clarification Over Disposable Cup Issue

PVR INOX has responded to the controversy over the alleged reuse of disposable cups at its Forum Mall multiplex in Bengaluru. A customer's viral video raised questions about hygiene practices at the cinema's beverage counter, triggering criticism on social media and concerns among moviegoers.
The issue started when a customer alleged that beverages costing around Rs. 300 or more were being served in previously used disposable cups. Responding to the backlash, PVR INOX denied the allegations, explaining that the cups seen in the video were damaged or leaking containers separated for disposal and were never reused.
The company also stated that an internal review found no major deviations from its established hygiene, food safety and quality procedures. PVR INOX apologised for the concern caused by the video and reiterated that customer health, safety and comfort remain its priorities.
Meanwhile, Karnataka's food safety authorities reportedly shut down the juice counter at the multiplex for further investigation. The incident has sparked fresh discussions about hygiene at cinema food counters, with moviegoers expecting greater transparency, proper food handling and strict safety standards, especially when paying premium prices.
