Ranbir Kapoor Plans His Directorial Debut In The Next Couple Of Years

Bollywood star Ranbir Kapoor has revealed an interesting plan for the next phase of his career. The actor is keen to turn director within the next two to three years and explore filmmaking from behind the camera. While promoting Ramayana: Part 1 alongside Sai Pallavi, he spoke about his growing interest in direction.
Ranbir recently tried writing a script but realised how challenging it is to develop a story from scratch. He expressed great respect for writers and filmmakers, adding that directors get involved in every department and bring different creative minds together. He feels directing offers a different kind of satisfaction compared to acting.
The actor revealed that he enjoys slice of life films and feel good family dramas. Movies like Life Is Beautiful, It's a Wonderful Life and the works of Rajkumar Hirani are among his favourites. He hopes to make a film that connects emotionally with audiences and leaves them with a positive feeling.
Ranbir also described this phase as the last decade of his acting career and expressed his desire to gradually move towards direction. He wants to complete Brahmastra 2, Animal 2 and Ramayana Part 2 before starting his directorial venture. Meanwhile, he will appear in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Love & War alongside Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal, scheduled for January 21, 2027.
