Congress MP from Vijayawada Lagadapati Rajagopal on Saturday said that the victory achieved by the YSR Congress party in the by-elections was not permanent.
Talking to media persons, Lagadapati Rajagopal said that the victory was caused due to the sympathy wave over the arrest of YSR Congress president Jaganmohan Reddy by the CBI and tears of Y S Vijayamma. If the CBI would not have arrested Jagan before the by-elections, he said that the Congress party would have won at least eight Assembly constituencies in the State.
Lagadapati said that he has already predicted the victory of YSR Congress and results came on the expected lines. He said that the by-elections results have alerted the Congress to do concrete ground work to face the general elections in 2014.
He expressed confidence that the party would rectify its mistakes and would go for the general elections with a clear winning strategy.
