New Delhi,Nov 9: The Andhra Pradesh Government will take stern action against the violent activities of Maoists, who are active along the Andhra-Orissa border, stated State Director General of Police (Dgp) R R Girish Kumar on Monday. The Dgp who was here to participate in the South Asian Free Media Association conference, told mediapersons that the police would take steps to prevent top Maoists from sneaking into one of the states, during the combing operations.“We are on high alert along the inter-state borders. We will retaliate if the Maoists unleash terror,” he added. He also urged the Maoists to abjure violence and come into the mainstream to bring about a peaceful change by fighting against corruption.

When the reporters asked him about the supply of arms to the Maoists from China, the Dgp said the government has evidence of Maoists acquiring weapons through Bangladesh, Myanmar, Nepal and China. He said the government had no information that the Maoists have links with the Chinese but they were getting arms in small quantities. The government would speed up the investigation into blasts that ripped through the Gokul Chat and Lumbini Park in Hyderabad on August 25,2007.
