Vijayawada,Nov 9: The Pandit Nehru Bus Station here has become a haven for all kinds of anti-social elements even as the officials prefer to be in slumber than pick up trouble.Workers employed in a hotel at Bus stand sometime back turned out to be the main accused in a murder case in Guntur.The officials who have failed to rein in the prices at the stalls in the Bus station complex prefer to look the other way to the murky goings-on in the bus terminal. Eve-teasing and harassment of women passengers has become the order of the day.Only on Monday,the police busted an easy money rocket and arrested three women.

 The three women were taken into custody for distributing pamphlets to the passengers and wooing them to become members of the company to gain easy money.Only recently, a woman who checked in to the Teja Dormitory at the Bus Complex was robbed of her gold ornaments worth Rs 1 lakh and some cash.The safety of the passengers has been tossed to the winds.Passengers are being fleeced by the shop owners at the bus complex. When some passengers who questioned the high prices were attacked. Yet, the officials took no action against the high-handedness of the vendors.

It is learnt that official are scared of the traders and their henchmen who have their sway at the station complex.The traders also employ workers without verifying their antecedents.Often, it turned out that many people with criminal backgrounds take shelter in shops as workers.They commit thefts and even do not spare the beggars from looting.As many as 16 closed circuit televisions (CCTVs),and a police outpost was set up and two TV sets were arranged to monitor the people’s movements at the terminal.Another TV was installed in the ATM and it stopped working long ago.Now,the two TV sets in the outpost also stopped beaming.A bus seized by RTA officials and parked at the RTC complex was set on fire at the terminal recently.However,the RTC officials are yet to wake up from their slumber.
