Govt to bail out film industry from piracy threat

The representatives of the Film Industry after  an hour  long  discussions  with Information Minister, J Geetha Reddy, and later with  Chief Minister K Rosaiah seemed to have been satisfied with the assurances  given by the Government  and  finally called off their proposed one-day bandh on Friday.

The  representatives of the  Film Industry  said the State Government had finally taken a decision to help out the Film Industry from the piracy threat.

Later Minister  Geeta  Reddy  told media persons that the government would begin the exercise to provide more teeth to the piracy Act. She said the Congress has always been in favour of the Film Industry and this time too, the government would take steps to bail out the industry from the piracy threat.

She said that the Film Industry representatives have requested her to introduce PD Act on the lines of the Tamil Nadu government. She said the government would examine their request and take required steps to solve the problem. 

The Film Industry representatives, M Muralimohan, Allu Aravind, Sekhar Babu, Syamprasad Reddy and actress -MLA, Jayasudha, met the Minister and the Chief Minister. 

With the assurance from the government, producer, Ravichandra, who is on indefinite hunger strike for the past three days,  called off his fast.
