Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao has reiterated his commitment and conviction to come out with a single window clearance Industrial policy for the Government of Telangana.

The Chief Minister said that the Government would ensure zero corruption and even a single complaint in this regard from any corner would be viewed seriously.  He said that as part of the single window clearance policy, the tax structure of as levied in other states will be studied and in Telangana at least ten percent less than other states will be implemented.  The Chief Minister was interacting with representatives of GMR Group at secretariat this afternoon.

Making a presentation GMR group said that it would build a high class exhibition cum convention centre as part of the proposed Airport City near Shamshabad Airport.  GMR mentioned that the exhibition and convention industry is a complex amalgamation of varied economic activity across sectors.  The presentation covered critical success factors and focus areas to develop brand Hyderabad on a global scale.  The critical factors included develop a global networking destination, developing Hyderabad as a global city, smart urban infrastructure, strong International connectivity, promote tourism, global scale amusement park, medical tourism destination and set up an international financial services centre. 

The GMR group mentioned that South Hyderabad is one of the high potential locations for undertaking these developments.  Mentioning about the achievements of airport in Hyderabad the group presented that they are handling one lakh million tonnes cargo, consistently improving the airport service quality besides Hyderabad airport declared as world’s best. The team proposed to build Hyderabad Airport city of world class which would create 15 to 20 thousand jobs.  GMR has also proposed to develop an exhibition cum convention centre in about 50 acres of land comprising of one lakh sq. mts area which will form part of airport city. The proposed project cost would be Rs. 750 crores and they requested State Government support.

Responding to the proposal the Chief Minister said that the Government would examine and arrive at a decision. The Chief Minister has suggested GMR group to give a thought to develop one more Airport towards the North of the Hyderabad, an excellent hospital near shamshabad airport, a theme park of world class as well as an excellent nature cure centre. 

Rajya Sabha member K Keshava Rao, Education Minister Jagadeeshwar Reddy, State Government Representative at New Delhi Venugopala Chary, MPs Balka Suman, Chief Secretary Dr Rajiv Sharma, Principal  Secretary to Chief Minister  S Narsing Rao, Special Chief Secretary Pradeep Chandra, GMR Chairman G Mallikarjuna Rao, CEO SGK Kishore and Chairman Airports Srinivas Bommidala were also present.
