Rajya Sabha MP V Hanumantha Rao on Friday said that he would stage a sit-it silent protest at Gandhi Bhavan on Saturday from 10.30 am demanding that the party conduct `Medhomadanam’ with senior leaders immediately to identify the reasons for its failure in the by-elections.

Talking to media persons, Hanumantha Rao said that there was an urgent need to conduct `Medhomadanam’ to refurbish the image of the party and the government. In Medhomadanam, he said that the party would know the pulse of the people through workers and the feedback would be useful in rectifying the past mistakes. He said that he would continue silent protest until the party and government conducts Medhomadanam.

Hanumantha Rao said that the party has to remove former chief minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy's photos from the all welfare schemes and programmes as people have been thinking that those schemes belong to the YSR Congress party. He asked as to why the Dharmana Committee did not raise the corruption and looting of YSRCP president Jagan Mohan Reddy while submitting its report to the party.

The Rajya Sabha MP also alleged that the people of State were thinking that Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy was acting covertly on behalf of Jaganmohan Reddy because of his controversial decisions. Stating that the party seniors should be given prominence in taking policy decisions, he demanded that the party has to expand the role of the Congress Coordination Committee. He also appealed the Congress High Command to immediately fill nominated posts to improve the morale among the party cadre.
