Tamil Netizens Question NTR's God of War

Amid massive excitement, the NTR - Trivikram mythological epic, tentatively titled God of War, was officially announced yesterday. While the project has generated enormous buzz across Telugu cinema, it has also sparked criticism from a section of Tamil social media users. Producer Naga Vamsi’s comments on the deity’s origin further fueled debate. Devotees urged makers to handle traditions with sensitivity and accuracy.

Some users argued that Jr. NTR, being a Telugu star, should not portray Lord Murugan, as they believe the deity is deeply rooted in Tamil culture and tradition. A section of Tamil fans felt that a Tamil actor, such as Suriya or Karthi, would have been a more natural choice due to their strong cultural connection with Tamil Nadu.

Others expressed concerns that the film could prioritize grand visuals, VFX, and commercial appeal over the devotional essence and cultural authenticity associated with Lord Murugan.

However, the reaction has been far from one-sided. Many fans across South India welcomed the announcement of a big-budget pan-Indian mythological film. Several Tamil fans also voiced their support, saying they would wholeheartedly back the project if it portrays Lord Murugan with respect and remains faithful to Tamil traditions and mythology.

As of now, the project has only been announced, and the makers are yet to reveal details about the story or NTR's exact role. It remains to be seen how the film balances cinematic spectacle with cultural sensitivity as production moves forward.
