Her name is Indira Reddy, 53 years old residing in Secunderabad till yesterday. Exactly two days ago, when she was returning home from a temple near LB Nagar, she hit an accident and was shifted to Kamineni Hospital only to declare that a serious internal head injury made her brain dead and her chances of reverting back is very mild.
Her son Ramesh Reddy, so affectionate towards mother was out of control and wept in grief. But, he doesn’t want to lose his mother’s identity as if. So, he decided to donate Indira Reddy’s liver, heart valves, kidneys and eyes to those who are fighting with life and death. Accordingly Mohan Foundation, an organ harvesting network has taken the responsibility to implant her organs.
Indira Reddy’s both the kidneys were transplanted each to 48 year suffering from renal failure and on a 51year suffering from chronic kidney disease.
Her eyes were sent to LV Prasad which gave light for two children.
Her heart valves were sent to Innova Childrens hospital.
Indira Reddy’s liver was transplanted on a 54 year Kolkata resident suffering from liver cirrhosis and waiting for liver from last 9 months.
Her family members were although in shock but they are happy that, they are looking after their Indira Reddy in seven others. ‘Burning her body with organs is not meaningful. We want to set an example to the society through organ donation,’ said her family.
So, there is an opportunity available to live on in many other people even after death and that is the message behind Organ Donation.
