Brahmotsavam, Wrong Calculations!

Mahesh Babu is one hero who enjoys massively equal following in classes and masses. So, his project selection ranges from commercial mass masala stories like ‘Dookudu, Pokiri’ to nativity centered class sensitive scripts like ‘Seethamma Vaakitlo Sirimalle Chettu.’ What matters the most from a producer’s perspective while making films in either of these genres is, how much is the investment and how far can be the recovery?

For example, Dil Raju’s maximum investment for SVSC went only on bagging the artists call sheets. Mahesh Babu, Venkatesh, Samanta and Prakash Raj’s remunerations make cream of a producer’s budget. So, Dil Raju cleverly restricted the story narration to a rural backdrop thus wrapping the product within a stipulated budget. If reports are to be believed, Prasad V Potluri wasn’t able to judge like Dil Raju while producing the upcoming flick ‘Brahmotsavam.’

Plenty of popular artists; exceedingly high number of shooting days in exterior locations like Pollachi, Ooty; number of artistically high valued settings and unrestrained working days etc… all these have led ‘Brahmotsavam’ budgetary calculations go horribly wrong. Inner sources say, had there been any producer other than PVP, this movie would have been shelved long ago.

One can now speculate the reasons on why Mahesh Babu out-bursted Srikant Addala during one of the shooting days. Let’s wish that, ‘Brahmotsavam’ does not end as one more cost failure project in Telugu cinema history.
