Oppn seeks discussion on drought

Hyderabad, Aug 19 :

The floor leaders of Telugu Desam, Telangana Rashtra Samiti, CPI and CPM on Wednesday appealed to the Assembly Speaker Kiran Kumar Reddy to direct the government to take up immediate discussion on prevailing drought situation in some parts of the state.

The floor leaders of all these party leaders met the Speaker in his chambers and submitted a memorandum on this issue urging him to direct the government to take up a discussion on drought without any further delay. Members, cutting across party lines, said the state is reeling under one of the worst drought spells and people are facing severe water and food shortage.

Without announcing the drought-affected areas, the Government is taking Opposition parties for a ride, they said.They urged the Speaker to direct the government to give a proper reply on the prevailing drought conditions in the state.
