Dy CM rules out sympathy vote for Jagan

Deputy Chief Minister Damodar Rajanarasimha on Friday dismissed media reports that YSR Congress president Jagan Mohan Reddy would get sympathy votes in the ensuing by-elections for his arrest by the CBI in connection with disproportionate assets case.

Addressing an election campaign in Anantapur district, Rajanarasimha said that Jagan Mohan Reddy did not went to jail for the farmers or any other public cause. He said the CBI arrested him for accumulating wealth through illegal methods by causing huge loss to the State's exchequer. He asked the media as to how Jagan Mohan Reddy could get sympathy for looting the State's resources and causing enormous losses to the exchequer.

The Deputy Chief Minister said that the misdeeds of Jagan Mohan Reddy, which took place during stint of former chief minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy, were exposed by the CBI and courts and there was no question of Jagan getting sympathy of people in the by-elections. He expressed confidence that the Congress party would win the by-elections with a huge majority.

Responding to a question on Dalits supporting the YSR Congress party in the by-elections, he dismissed reports as baseless and said that the Dalits were always with the Congress and would never part away with the party.
