DS appeals voters to reject YSRC candidates

Former Pradesh Congress Committee president and MLC D Srinivas on Wednesday called upon the voters to teach a fitting lesson in the by-elections to those who are responsible for causing the by-elections unnecessarily and putting huge burden on the State's exchequer.

Participating in an election rally in Prattipadu assembly constituency in Guntur district along with Agriculture Minister Kanna Lakshminarayana, Srinivas accused the YSR Congress leaders of being responsible for causing the by-elections.

He alleged that the YSRC leaders, who enjoyed party positions in the Congress, were now resorting to quit the Congress and cheating the people of the constituency by switching loyalties.

Srinivas appealed to the Congress rank and file to popularise the government's welfare schemes and programmes among the people and seek the votes based on the good governance. Stating that all the welfare schemes formulated in 2004 belonged to the Congress party, he said that the credit for implementing those schemes never goes to former chief minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy alone. He said that all the welfare schemes were implemented in the State with the formal approval of Congress president Sonia Gandhi.

Srinivas also participated in the election campaign in in Gorantla and Etekur mandals.
