Nizamabad MP Madhu Yashki on Saturday stated that the Telangana Congress leaders would go an indefinite hunger fast if the Centre fails to announce a decision in favour of Telangana state within next two days.

Talking to media persons after emerging out of MPs meeting convened at his residence, Madhu Yashki said that the MPs from the region would make all efforts to achieve the Telangana state by allying with all other parties and mount pressure on the high command to take a favourable decision. As part of intensifying pressure on central leadership, Madhu Yashki said that the Telangana leaders would sit-in for indefinite hunger fast cutting above party lines. He said all leaders would be taken into confidence before sitting-in for hunger fast.

Stating that agitation is the primary right of employees, he demanded that the state government pay salaries to all the employees who participated in the general strike. He said that the elected representatives would extend their total support to employees who participated in the general strike for the statehood. He reiterated that he was ready to sacrifie his post for the cause of separate statehood.

Karimnagar MP Ponnam Prabhakar demanded that the Governor E S L Narasimhan submit a comprehensive and factual report on the situation prevailing in Telangana due to the people's general strike to Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh and Union Home Minister P Chidambaram. He demanded that the Centre either announce roadmap for formation of Telangana or accept resignations of elected representatives from the region.

MP Manda Jagannatham appealed to high command to take an early decision on Telangana to end uncertainty prevailing in the state. He said that the agitation for statehood would be intensified if the government resorts to coercive methods by using police force. MP Balram Nayak said there was no use of imposing President’s Rule in the state without solving the statehood issue. MPs G Vivek, Rajaiah, and Rajya Sabha member K Kesava Rao were present in the conference.
