Makutam story is all about a medical representative and the shocking happenings in his life and the reason behind them. A honest medical representative, Krupakar ( Vishal) , finally realises his dream of owning a car. However, his holiday outing with his wife Jamuna( Dushara Vijayan) and children in his car leads to shocking developments.

What are those shocking developments, how it is connected to Linga (Vishal), Annapurna (Anjali), Naga( Ajay), Jana ( John Vijay), Martin ,Lala, Pandu ( Jayaprakash ) and others form the rest of developments.

Vishal is ok in his role. The role is tailormade for him and he performed accordingly. Vishal also played the father role and his look and makeup looked odd on the screen. He should have cast another actor in the role.

Dushara Vijayan is fine in her role. Anjali did not look good on the screen and she delivered dialogues at the top of her voice. John Vijay is ok in his role. Jaya Prakash made his presence felt. Others like Ajay, Vamsi Krishna, Abu Salim, Arjai, Jhansi, Padam Kumar, Sabhumon performed according to their roles.

Makutam(2026) Movie: Technicians Review

Makutam story is penned by Ravi Arasu. The film marked the debut of Vishal as the director. Vishal tried to entertain masses with commercial elements revolving around the import of Chinese auto parts. However, Vishal included more family drama, action elements instead of highlighting the main topic.

All the scenes right from the first scene turned routine, monotonous and predictable. Many expected things to change after Vishal who was seen as a honest and innocent medical representive gets trageted. But nothing of that sorts happen and the entry of other Vishal character is expected to change the proceedings at least in the second half. However, the narration nosedives in the second half to a new low. The scenes featuring Vishal, Dushara Vijayan lack the emotional connect and looks mundane and the so called comedy with Thambi Ramaiah doesn't work.

Things doesn't change in the second half and the so called flashback episode which is expected to take the film to next level is dragged to the core testing the patience of the viewers. The chemistry between Vishal and Anjali looked odd on screen and to the irritation of viewers, the pre climax and climax is dragged to the next level leaving people wonder when the film will end. The climax fight looked silly and illogical leaving all shocked. The story is outdated and screenplay and direction didnot inspire any confidence.

GV. Prakash Kumar's music offered nothing new. The tunes turned below average. His background music fared no better. At times it turned out to be loud. The cinematography of Richard M Nathan is just average. Dialogues are pretty ordinary. Production values are ok

Altogether, Makutam turns out to be below-average mass entertainer. Vishal completely failed as the director and much to the disappointment of all, he even failed as an actor. At times he overacted and other times he underperformed and looked disconnected completely. No amount of changes to the script and screenplay would have changed the final result. Considering all these elements, Cinejosh goes with a 1.5 rating for Makutam.
