Mr Srinivas revealed that the thumping win would be made possible as the party would make all-out efforts to win. He said that the party would use the charisma of actor-turned-politician K Chiranjeevi to boost its chances of capturing the Kadapa by-elections.

By-elections to the Kadapa Lok Sabha and the Pulivendula Assembly constituencies have been necessitated after the sitting MP YS Jaganmohan Reddy and his mother YS Vijayalakshmi resigned from the Kadapa LS seat and Pulivendula Assembly seat respectively and also from the Congress.

Mr Srinivas told the scribes which surrounded him after his meeting with Ms Gandhi that the High Command has started the process of picking out the most ‘winnable’ candidates for the elections which have become a matter of prestige.

The PCC chief also expressed confidence that there was no threat to the government led by Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy. He said that the government would continue till its mandate expires in 2014.

Mr Srinivas also revealed that the party High Command would take a decision on utilizing the services and charisma of Praja Rajyam Party chief K Chiranjeevi at appropriate time after the formalities of the merger of the two parties are completed.

Reacting on the serious allegations leveled by former minister and Congress MLA Konda Surekha against Congress president Sonia Gandhi, Mr Srinivas said that the High Command would initiate serious disciplinary action against her soon.

Ms Surekha had let loose a barrage of allegations against Ms Gandhi and had termed her as unfit to head the Congress party on Wednesday.

The PCC chief also revealed that he had thanked Ms Gandhi for reposing faith in his leadership and nominating him for the PCC chief post.
