The Telangana Rashtra Samithi has called for Rangareddy bandh on Tuesday in protest against the lathicharge on Telangana students during the attack on the convoy of Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu at Pargi on Monday.

TRS district In-Charge A Chandrasekhar said in a media statement that the police targeted Telangana students even though the former chief minister’s convoy was pelted with stones by anti-social elements from Seemandhra.

Mr Chandrasekhar said, “We appeal to the people of the district to observe bandh on Tuesday to protest the beating up of innocent Telangana students by the police during the events which unfolded at Pargi on Monday morning.”

According to reliable reports, the activists allegedly belonging to the TRS hurled stones at Mr Naidu’s convoy when he was heading to Kosgi in Mahabubnagar to raise the issue of shortage of fertilizers.

The protestors were demanding that Mr Naidu make his stand on the separate Telangana statehood clear.

The police were forced to resort to lathicharging the protestors after the convoy was pelted with stones. Meanwhile, the Osmania University Students Joint Action Committee also extended its support to the bandh call.
