Minister for Minority Welfare Mohd Ahemadullah Syed on Friday said that the government had recently issued orders, according an administrative sanction of Rs 1.53 crore to meet the immediate requirements of Urdu Academy computer centres and libraries. The funds would be utilised to clear  salaries and utility bills like electricity charges and rents.

Admitting that the Urdu Academy in the state is facing financial problems and salary for the staff was pending for the last four months, he said four months salaries from September 2009 was to be released to the personnel working in the two sections of Urdu Academy.

He was replying to a question raised by Telugu Desam Party (TDP) members Ibrahim bin Abdullah Masqati and P Yadagiri in the Legislative Council during Question Hour on Friday. 

He assured the members that salaries for the staff from September 2009 would be released very soon and clarified that, scholarships to students and awards to teachers in Urdu Medium schools was not stopped for lack of funds. 

He elaborated that the Urdu Academy was allotted a budget of Rs 23.20 crore for the year 2008-09 and Rs 24.67 crore during 2009-10. He denied any misuse of funds by the management was responsible for the financial problems in the academy.
