Nandi Awards From 2017 To 2024 Get Revised Format

The Andhra Pradesh government has revived the long pending Nandi Awards, covering the years 2017 to 2024 after an eight year gap. Recent reports indicate that the government initially proposed two production awards and two Special Jury Awards annually for this period, while the 2025 awards will return to a broader format.
The decision follows demands from sections of the Telugu film industry for wider recognition. The Nandi Awards traditionally include Gold, Silver and Bronze honours for the top three feature films. The latest government plan is intended to restart the awards process, with committees being constituted before selection and ceremonies targeted for December 2026.
The NTR National Award remains one of Andhra Pradesh’s major honours for outstanding contribution to Indian cinema. Recent reports say the government has also approved the NTR, B.N. Reddy, Nagireddy - Chakrapani and Raghupathi Venkaiah awards as part of the broader awards programme, with the NTR honour carrying ₹5 lakh and the others ₹2 lakh each.
The renewed awards programme will cover 46 film categories, while television awards will span 48 categories. Industry representatives have nevertheless sought comprehensive recognition for every pending year, including additional lifetime and national honours. The government’s final implementation and award selections will become clearer once committees complete the evaluation process.
