Melbourne, Jan 9: A 29-year-old Indian-origin man was set ablaze by four assailants here in the wee hours of Saturday. The attack comes barely a week after 21-year-old Indian Nitin Garg was stabbed to death on his way to work in West Footscray.The victim who was identified as Jaspreet Singh, was admitted to a local hospital after the attack in which he suffered burn injuries and is stated to be in a serious but stable condition. He suffered 15 per cent burns ng on his arms, chest and face.

The incident occurred in Melbourne's Essendon area.According to the local  media,  Jaspreet and his wife left a dinner party in Essendon, in the city's northwest around 1.30 a.m. and drove to their nearby home in Grice Crescent. He dropped his wife at home and had gone to park his car when he was attacked.Commenting on the recent attack on Indian in Australia, the Indian Ministry of External Affairs said that it was following the matter vigorously with Australian authorities.
