Warangal,Dec 28: The police on Sunday arrested two Maoists and recovered Rs 60 lakh during a raid.According to Warangal Superintendent of Police Shah Nawaz Qasim, the police arrested Velagandula Veeraiah and Siddam Shetty Vykuntam at Mangapet near here as they were trying pass the money to other Maoists near a forest area.The Maoists reached Gangugudem, a village surrounded by forests and were planning to hand over the money to Hari Bhushan, Chandranna and Damor of CPI (Maoist) party.

On a tip-off, the cops reached the village and seized two bags. One sack contained Rs. 50 lakh and another Rs. 10 lakh. They were collected from a contractor, K. Sudarshan Reddy,who is also connected to Naxalite activity, Qasim revealed.The police also unearthed arms dumps in various parts of the district. It includes a Springfield rifle, two 8 mm rifle in gunny bags and five live cartilages, 400 gelatine ticks, 50 detonators and five coupling bombs.An investigation is under way to arrest other accused.
