Hyderabad,Dec 28: Ekkadu Srinivasan Lakshmi Narasimhan  was sworn in as the 22nd  Governor of Andhra  Pradesh at a formal swearing-in function at the Raj Bhavan on Monday. Chief Justice of Andhra Pradesh High Court A.R. Dave administered the oath of office to Narasimhan at Raj Bhavan on Monday morning.He took additional charge as the Governor of Andhra Pradesh following the resignation of N.D. In the wake of an alleged sex scandal,Tiwari resigned on Saturday citing health grounds.Chief Minister K. Rosaiah, his cabinet colleagues, leaders of various parties, Chief Secretary Ramakanth Reddy and other top officials attended the simple ceremony.

The advantage of having Narasimhan in the Raj Bhavan is that he belongs to the AP IPS cadre, can converse in Telugu fluently and as an ex-IB chief, he would be more than handy in the current volatile situation in the State.In 1968, E.S.L.Narasimhan joined the Indian Police Service (I.P.S) and joined the Andhra Pradesh cadre. He held office in the Ministry of External Affairs and served from 1981-84 as the First Secretary in the Moscow Embassy.He was appointed as the Chief of Intelligence Bureau after the retirement of the former chief Ajith Kumar Doval. He held office for a tenure of almost 10 months before he retired. Prior to this, he was the Deputy Director of Intelligence Bureau.E.S.L Narasimhan was appointed as the Governor of Chhattisgarh on 25th January 2007. After the formation of the state on November 1, 2000, he was the third Governor of Chattisgarh.
