Venkatesh has consistently relied on remakes since the beginning of his career and most of his remake choices have proved right at the box office for over three decades. One of his more popular remakes in recent times, Drishyam, was directed by yesteryear actor Sri Priya. Now, Venkatesh has given the nod to star in the film’s sequel as well. This will be a remake of the Malayalam version of Drishyam 2 that is releasing on OTT later today.

The Telugu remake will be directed by Jeethu Joseph, who’d also helmed Drishyam 2 in Malayalam. Jeethu Joseph is already on a recce in Telangana, scouting for locations and planning to shoot the film in quick time. The Malayalam version of Drishyam 2 was shot over a 40-day-span and given the film would be shot in a limited number of locations, the Telugu remake isn’t expected to be any different.

The primary cast of the film comprising Meena, Esther Anil, Naresh and Nadhiya is expected to be retained for the sequel as well. Reportedly, Kamal Haasan will be headlining the Drishyam 2 remake in Tamil. Venkatesh’s remake of Asuran, titled Naarappa, will be releasing in May later this year. The actor is also part of F3, the sequel to F2, which has already completed its second schedule. If Drishyam 2 remake is completed on time, Venkatesh may have as many as three releases in the same calendar year.
