Upasana Kamineni Takes Charge as Apollo Director

Upasana Kamineni Konidela has taken charge as Director – Projects at Apollo Hospitals, as the healthcare group advances an estimated ₹8,600 crore expansion programme across India. She will coordinate with Apollo’s leadership, clinical teams and project partners on new hospitals, facility expansions and upgrades to existing centres.

The new role comes with a focus on improving both infrastructure and patient experience. Upasana will work on consistent design standards, efficient clinical spaces, clearer signage and easier navigation, while strengthening project coordination from design through opening. Apollo’s expansion includes approximately ₹1,565 crore earmarked for listed brownfield projects.

Apollo’s programme combines capacity expansion in established markets with new facilities across growing cities. Published plans identify Hyderabad, Delhi NCR, Chennai, Mumbai and Bengaluru among key centres, alongside Lucknow, Varanasi, Indore, Guwahati and Ranchi. The specific projects and budgets falling under Upasana’s mandate will be confirmed by Apollo.

Upasana said she wants to carry forward the vision of her grandfather, Apollo founder Dr. Prathap C. Reddy, who established the group around making world class healthcare accessible in India. She emphasised patient friendly hospital design, supportive spaces for families and efficient environments for doctors and healthcare teams.
