Raghava Lawrence Takes Huge arial Stepping Into Mahaveer Karna

Raghava Lawrence is entering the mythological genre with Mahaveer Karna, a ₹150 crore epic directed by Ramesh Varma. The makers have unveiled his first look as the legendary Mahabharata warrior, marking a major departure from Lawrence’s familiar horror comedy and mass action image. The film is planned as a five language release in 2027.

The scale makes Mahaveer Karna particularly ambitious, with the production planned across Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Malayalam and Kannada. The makers are preparing elaborate period sets, ancient kingdoms, battlefields, large scale action sequences and extensive VFX. Pen Movies presents the film in association with RV Studios and Sri Neeladri Productions.

Karna has previously attracted ambitious filmmakers, but projects have faced development hurdles. Rakesh Omprakash Mehra’s adaptation remains in development, with the filmmaker confirming that its screenplay is complete while the project was previously paused. His planned two part epic is now associated with Salman Khan, while earlier reports had linked Suriya to the project.

Lawrence’s Mahaveer Karna now carries its own expectations because of its reported budget and mythological scale. His upcoming lineup has included several announced projects, making execution crucial. The makers have yet to reveal the complete cast and detailed release plan, but the 2027 target positions Karna as one of Lawrence’s most ambitious career ventures.
