The time when the united AP was bifurcated and new Andhra Pradesh was formed, it was speculated by most of the people that Vizag would be made as the state's capital. As is known, Vizag is one of the most beautiful cities of India. The city's weather conditions suit to be lived and to get industries established. It has good air traffic. Above all, entire North Andhra, which is considered to be the backward area, could have been developed with Vizag being chosen the AP's capital.

Unfortunately, then CM Chandrababu Naidu appeared to have developed jealousy on Vizag city's beauty. He was reluctant to choose Vizag for capital as the city is not dominated by one particular caste.

Contrary to people's hopes, CBN picked out a 3-crop yielding Amaravati as the capital. Everyone was shell-shocked CBN"s act choosing a no man's land as the capital instead of a ready made beautiful city.

As we all know, AP CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy announced three capitals in AP and Vizag would become an executive capital. Hearing Jagan's words, CBN was immensely disturbed. Never ever had he imagined a city which made him jealous would become AP's capital. As a result, he made unnecessary allegations on the ruling party for selecting Vizag as one of the capitals. CBN alleged that YCP's leaders might have purchased lands in Vizag and which is why the city was chosen for capital. In fact, TDP leaders themselves, acquired lands in Amaravati much prior to he capital was announced during CBN's regime.
