Ever since the sensations created by Rajamouli's magnum opus Baahubali which elevated the standard of Indian cinema at international level and set a new benchmark in filmmaking, many filmmakers from across the country are trying and some tried to cross it. However they failed miserably on all counts. In fact, Kollywood is one industry which always gives healthy competition for Tollywood and here it is one more.
Rumors are fast spreading that ace director Maniratnam is coming with a prestigious film to break Baahubali barrier. He is said to be on a plan for bilingual aka Tamil and Telugu with Big B Amitabh Bachchan and world's eternal beauty Aishwarya Rai. Further reports add that, Amitabh will be seen in a powerful role like Kattappa in this yet to be officially announced crazy project.
This film will also feature top stars from Tollywood and Kollywood as the script is inspired by historic novel Ponniyan Selvan penned by Kalki Krishnamurty. The novel came in five parts and Maniratnam for long planned to come with a celluloid version.
Aiming at giving a feature film format for Ponniyan Selvan is good thought for Mani but dreaming to breach Baahubali records can be a too much task. Is this possible Mani Sir?
