Bharatiya Janata Party leader and MP M Venkaiah Naidu on Saturday stated the Congress party in the state was on a suicidal path as its leaders were making several corruption charges against their own ministers.

After being felicitated on his nomination to Rajya Sabha member for the third time from Karnataka, he told newsmen that the BJP would become an alternative to the Congress in the state before 2014 elections and emerge victorious at the Centre.

Naidu hoped his party would perform better in the state and reach its goal by that time. Asserting that  he would not contest in the elections to the Lok Sabha, Naidu said he wanted to serve the party full time.

“It would not be possible if I become an MLA or MP in the direct elections. The MP or MLA has to spare his 50 per cent time for the sake of the public”, he stated.

He called upon the cadre to work hard and make the party a formidable force in the State by 2014. The people have lost faith in the Congress government due to increasing prices, terrorist and Maoist threats, he stated.

Naidu asked the cadre to prepare a road map in the forthcoming ‘Chintan Baitak’ and help the party becomes an alternative to the Congress in the state.
