Chief Minister K Rosaiah on Friday called upon the students of Joint Action Committee) to drop their ‘Chalo Assembly’ agitation planned for Saturday (Feb 20) as they cause a lot of inconvenience to the people.

Expressiing concern over the ‘Chalo Assembly’ call given by the students, Rosaiah told reporters the students lose valuable academic year due to dharnas, agitations and bandhs.

“No parent wants the studies of their wards disrupted as higher education involves a lot of spending,” he said.

He said some anti-social elements may also participate in the agitation and provoke the students. The Government had received the inputs from Intelligence sources that violence may break out in the agitation, he said.

He urged all party leaders and associations to present their views before the Srikrishna Commission and help solve the Telangana statehood issue.He said the government would take steps to implement GO. 610 in letter and spirit.

Meanwhile, Hyderabad Police Commissioner A K Khan on Friday said the ‘Chalo Assembly’ agitation called by the students JAC is violative of the law and order provisions.

He advised the students from the districts against coming to Hyderabad and create a law and order problem in the city.

He suggested that the students should not involve themselves in cases which might mar their valuable academic career.

“The government is bracing itself up to tackle any situation on the day. We do not want to take any chances after receiving specific inputs on plans to create tension on Feb 20,” he added.
