Mumbai, Jan 22: Blaming the unrest in the state over the Telangana issue, the Indian Premier League management on Friday announced its decision to shift the opening match and the inaugural of Ipl-3 to Mumbai from Hyderabad.Ipl Chairman and Commissioner Lalit Modia said the opening fixture between Ipl-2 champions Deccan Chargers and Kolkata Knight Riders would now be played in Mumbai, instead of Hyderabad on March 12. He said, “the opening game, the ceremony and the opening gala dinner on March 11 are very important for us.

People from all over the world are coming and we are going to ensure that everything is in order. We don't want to take any chances."He made it clear that there would be no changes to other matches. Mr Modi said the decision to shift the opening match of the cash-rich cricketing extravaganza was taken after ‘working things’ out with the franchises and the teams.Mr Modi maintained that the Ferozeshah grounds in Delhi would also host Ipl matches despite the match between India and Sri Lanka being called off due to an unplayable surface.
