TDP MLAs urge Speaker to accept resignations

Hyderabad, Jan 21: Telugu Desam MLAs from the Telangana region on Thursday demanded that Speaker Kiran Kumar Reddy accept their resignations from the House with immediate effect. The TDP MLAs met the Speaker after a call by the Joint Action Committee, formed to pressurise the Centre to give in to their demand for a separate Telangana, to quit their posts. The JAC leaders said unless all the Legislators resigned, attempts to mount pressure would be futile.

Senior TDP leader Nagam Janardhana Reddy said the only way to get the Centre to act on the contentious issue would be to create a Constitutional crisis by  getting Legislators to resign en masse.Janardhana Reddy added that the MLAs and MPs could not remain silent spectators while students fight for the cause of Telangana and lay down their lives. He also appealed to Congress legislators to come forward and resign from their posts.
