The second day of the winter session of Telangana State Legislative Assembly saw fireworks going. As soon as the proceedings of the House began, Opposition demanded that Speaker S. Madhusudan Chary take adjournment motion on defection by opposition MLAs to TRS which was rejected outright.

Legislative Affairs Minister T. Harish Rao and Leader of Opposition K. Jana Reddy traded charges against each other after the Speaker suspended 11 opposition MLAs from the Assembly for a day.

Protesting against suspension, Jana Reddy lashed out at the government saying that even a senior MLA like Mallu Batti Vikramarka was suspended despite no pandemonium in the House and Bhatti did not even rush to the Speaker’s podium. He pointed that that though there were severe disruptions in Parliament and not a single member was suspended. People watching the proceedings will lose faith in functioning of the legislature, he asserted.

Reacting to Jana Reddy’s remarks, Harish Rao accused Congress of murdering democracy during its regime in united Andhra Pradesh. Just because the Congress had succeeded in the logjam of Parliament, the party’s plan to follow the same here in the Assembly will not work, he lashed out.

He recalled that Congress in United AP had suspended TRS members even for raising ‘Jai Telangana’ slogans and Jana Reddy as a minister then had silently watched then.
