Worldwide collections are hovering around ₹325 – 338 crore.The biggest setback has been the film’s inability to maintain its opening momentum. Toxic registered a ₹101.10 crore India net opening, but collections dropped sharply thereafter. Trade reports also indicate that the Hindi version has been the strongest contributor, while the southern markets have struggled to sustain theatrical traction.Despite its overall slowdown, Toxic has found considerable support in the Hindi market. The Hindi version alone has contributed more than half of the film’s India net according to current tracking estimates. However, that performance has not been enough to compensate for weaker numbers elsewhere, particularly considering the film’s reported high production cost.The worldwide theatrical share, 135 crores remains well below the estimated break even requirement of around ₹350 crore mentioned in trade circles. But Nihas regained his composure and once he dealt with the main story, the narration turns interesting. But there are many scenes and characters that looked forced and out of sync to the story.While the first half after the initial confusion, turns interesting in the run up to the interval and brings an end setting to the exciting second half, the second half sinks even further. There are many unnecessary characters and the flat narration and uninspiring execution played the spoil sport. The flashback episodes undoes all the good intentions. Everything ended up irritating and testing the patience of the viewers.The music and background tuned by Jakes Bejoy turned out to be a disappointing affair. He tried to elevate the scenes that offered nothing new. He tried to continue in the same vein in the second half but he over did the comedy scenes and made viewers feel that the story is heading nowhere.There are many predictable elements in the second half and once the director's intention is known in the first half, viewers get disconnected . He came up with a subtle performance, balancing emotions and also the heroism which he is known for, and endeared himself as Mass Maha Raja.Priya Bhavani Shankar is apt in the role of his wife. She got a very limited role and did justice to it with her performance. Baby Nakshatra, who played the role of the daughter, came up with a terrific performance. Shiva Nirvana came up with a story to connect chords with the viewers with father-daughter sentiment, raising of children, and blended well with the commercial and devotional elements. The first half sails off smoothly with the typical introduction of the protagonist in a commercial mass manner and carries it in the same manner. However, in between, he loses steam, but still, the first half ends on a decent note, setting the tone for the second half.He continues in the same manner in the second half but adds a few more intense emotional elements. A couple of twists generate interest, surprising all. The twists come as a surprise in a rather predictable story, and the flat narration, especially in the second half. However, once the twists are unraveled, there is nothing much in the story to take it forward. The climax ends on an emotional note.GV. Prakash Kumar elevated the scenes with his background music. His background score added impact to the emotional scenes. His music and tunes for the songs already became the chartbusters. The song placement, however, could have been better.Vishnu Sharma, with his cinematography, turned the scenes into visually appealing manner. He showed the scenes in a natural and realistic way. Prawin Pudi's editing is ok and could have been better in the second half. A few repetitive scenes in the second half slowed the pace of the narration. The screenplay turned out to be decent, and the direction is to the point.The music for Pawan CH is attractive and appealing. The songs are situational and are shot well. While one song is emotional, the other two songs are foot-tapping. His background music is in sync with the story. Vinod Bangari's cinematography is quite good. He showed the rural atmosphere in Telangana in a natural and realistic manner. He takes the viewers into the story at the start itself but from then on failed to drive home the point in a convincing manner. The Ravi , Swetha love track and the father-daughter marriage episodes ends up testing the patience of the viewers.The court drama and the land dispute in the second half is shown in an illogical and silly manner. The point as to why son is hating his father is not shown in an elaborate manner and the father son bonding is not elevated properly except in the climax.A more racy screenplay, more intense and entertaining script would have added value to the narration. Many expected things to change after Vishal who was seen as a honest and innocent medical representive gets trageted. But nothing of that sorts happen and the entry of other Vishal character is expected to change the proceedings at least in the second half. However, the narration nosedives in the second half to a new low. The scenes featuring Vishal, Dushara Vijayan lack the emotional connect and looks mundane and the so called comedy with Thambi Ramaiah doesn't work.Things doesn't change in the second half and the so called flashback episode which is expected to take the film to next level is dragged to the core testing the patience of the viewers. The chemistry between Vishal and Anjali looked odd on screen and to the irritation of viewers, the pre climax and climax is dragged to the next level leaving people wonder when the film will end. The climax fight looked silly and illogical leaving all shocked. The story is outdated and screenplay and direction didnot inspire any confidence.GV. Prakash Kumar's music offered nothing new. The tunes turned below average. His background music fared no better. At times it turned out to be loud. The cinematography of Richard M Nathan is just average. Dialogues are pretty ordinary. The interval block sets the stage for the second half. While the screenplay is racy and narration is quite fast paced in the first half, the second half narration slides down with monotonous elements. The preachy dialogues and repetitive scenes put off viewers. Finally the movie ends in a predictable manner.The music of Charan Arjun is good. The title song already became a chartbuster and it is choreographed in a good way on the screen. His background music is in sync with the story. Many will be under the impression that the makers included these scenes to attract genex viewers and then wash off their hands with a message in the climax. A little finetuning of the script, and attention to the second half would have added more power to the final output.
