Hyderabad,the bone of contention for Andhra and Telangana

Hyderabad,Dec 10: With the Centre clearing the decks to initiate the process for the formation of  separate Telangana, politicians and  industrialists are keeping their fingers crossed on the fate of Hyderabad,the Hi-tec city.The establishments like the GMR,GVK and Lanco are pondering over the next step and are anxiously seeking for other alternatives.In case of a separate Telangana,Hyderabad  will be the bone of contention both for the politicians as well as the industrialists.Business barons and industrialists have invested enormous funds in developing Hyderabad as a global IT hub and the engine of economic growth for the state.

 It will be huge loss for Andhra Pradesh if Hyderabad goes to Telangana.Limited to ten districts in the state,Telangana holds a slight edge over coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema in terms of   natural  resources. Telangana is  bestowed with natural rivers and  rivulets,the long coal belt in Singareni and supplemented by rich forest wealth.Despite all these natural  gifts,Telangana presents a desolate picture with rampant poverty,illiteracy,child labor,farmer suicides, unemployment, water and electricity shortages due to discriminatory policies of successive AP governments.Andhra will now be left with 13 districts.The nine prosperous districts of coastal Andhra,and four backward districts of Rayalaseema region.The formation of a new state will also mark the beginning of the process of dividing Andhra Pradesh, India's first state formed on a linguistic basis.
