SC, ST Sub-Plan not aimed at political gains: Ponguleti

AICC Secretary and MLC Ponguleti Sudhakar Reddy has claimed that the SC, ST Sub-Plan Bill was introduced by the Congress Government not for political gains, but to ensure social justice.

Talking to reporters in the Assembly premises here on Monday, Sudhakar Reddy said that social justice was the dream of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi which is now being fulfilled by Congress president Sonia Gandhi. He said that the Congress party always took practical measures for the upliftment of weaker sections in the society and SC, ST Sub-Plan Bill was one among them.

Sudhakar Reddy also alleged that Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu failed to take any concrete step despite being in power for almost nine years. He said Naidu has always made tall claims of achievements, while the Congress party believed in practical steps.

Congress MLCs MS Prabhakar, Mohammad Farooq Hussain and KR Amos also welcomed the passing of SC, ST Sub-Plan Bill and thanked Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy.
