SC, ST Sub-Plan Bill will ensure social justice: Sailajanath

Primary Education Minister S Sailajanath on Monday claimed that by ensuring passing of SC, ST Sub-Plan Bill, the Congress party has fulfilled its promise, made in the election manifesto, of providing equal opportunities to the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes in the State.

Talking to reporters at the Congress Legislature Party office here, Sailajanath said that the Sub-Plan would ensure that the SCs and STs enjoy all the benefits of funds being sanctioned for them by the State Government. He said despite the united efforts of opposition parties, the Congress Government was able to pass the Bill in the Legislative Assembly. He equated the passing the Bill to ensuring social justice through economic empowerment of SCs and STs.

Sailajanath also the condemned the criticism by Madiga Reservation Porata Samithi for not including the categorisation clause in the Sub-Plan Bill. He said that the government only followed the Supreme Court judgment in drafting and passing the Bill.
