Communist Party of India state secretary K Narayana on Thursday stated that his party has extended support to the Opposition Telugu Desam party in the by-elections as there was no better prospects for Communist Party of India (Marxist).

Talking to media persons, Narayana said that the alliance with Cpi (M) in the by-elections would not benefit the party anymore and the people too would not hail the tie-up. He said that the Cpi was supporting the TDP to expose the corruption that took place during the Congress rule and against YSR Congress party president Jagan Mohan Reddy. He called upon the people to vote in favour of TDP in the by-elections and teach a fitting lesson to the Congress and Jagan Mohan Reddy.

Stating that Cpi would agitate along with Cpi(M) on people’s issues, he said that the alliance was limited to the next by-elections.

When the reporters asked Narayana about the 'hidden agenda' behind alliance with the TDP as alleged by the Cpi(M) Secretary BV Raghavulu, he refused to make any comments. He also came down heavily on Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy for releasing the funds to constituencies going for the by-elections.

Narayana described Telangana Congress MPs suspension from the parliament as `political drama’ to get mileage on the statehood issue.
