Madras High Court Allows Idhayam Murali Release Despite Sudha Kongara Plea

The Madras High Court cleared the release of Idhayam Murali on July 10, 2026. Director Sudha Kongara sought a stay citing unpaid dues of ₹8.39 crore from Dawn Pictures related to her film Parasakthi. The court refused interim relief and said the financial dispute needs detailed hearing.
Sudha Kongara alleged the production house defaulted on payments after shifting the project. She argued the dues must be cleared before any new release. However, the bench noted that a money claim requires full evidence and cannot block a film’s theatrical debut without proper adjudication.
Dawn Pictures countered that Sudha Kongara was already paid and that she moved to another banner after taking an advance. The producers also cited losses from piracy and legal issues faced during Parasakthi’s production. They urged the court not to link two separate projects.
Despite the legal tussle, Idhayam Murali released as scheduled. The Atharvaa starrer is a romantic drama backed by Dawn Pictures. Trade analysts expect the clearance to help the film capitalize on weekend shows. The court will continue hearing the payment dispute separately in coming weeks. The film is releasing in Telugu as Hrudayam Murali today, July 11 through Mythri Distribution.
