Christopher Nolan Lauds Indian Fans At The Odyssey Mumbai Premiere

Oscar winning director Christopher Nolan premiered The Odyssey in Mumbai on July 10, marking his first India launch. Lead stars Tom Holland and Matt Damon joined him. Nolan called Indian audiences “among the most enthusiastic and knowledgeable in the world” and thanked them for the warm welcome.
He shared his long connection with India, having shot in Jodhpur and Mumbai before. Interacting with fans, Nolan asked if they liked the film and playfully compared Holland and Damon. The crowd cheered loudly. He said launching in India first was a long held dream for him.
Based on Homer’s epic, The Odyssey follows Odysseus, King of Ithaca, on his perilous journey home after the Trojan War. Damon plays Odysseus and Holland plays his son Telemachus. The story blends myth, adventure, and emotional family drama across ancient landscapes.
Shot entirely on new IMAX cameras across multiple countries, it’s the first feature film to do so. Nolan’s first project after Oppenheimer, the film releases globally on July 17. Mumbai hosted special screenings on July 10 and 11 ahead of the worldwide debut.
