Megastar Chiranjeevi's upcoming project, Mega 158, has hit a roadblock due to budget constraints. The film, directed by K. S. Ravindra (Bobby), initially had A.R. Rahman on board as the music composer. However, Rahman's exit has been confirmed, and S Thaman is expected to take over the music department.
The decision to replace Rahman is reportedly due to budget revisions, as the production house, KVN Productions, faces financial pressure. The film's production was initially slated to begin in December or January, targeting a Sankranti 2027 release. However, the project has been delayed, with the new start date expected to be around mid-April, pushing the release to Summer 2027.
The Chiranjeevi-Bobby combination has generated significant buzz, thanks to their previous collaboration, Waltair Veerayya. Despite the changes, Mega 158 is expected to be one of the most anticipated Telugu films of 2027. The team is exploring alternative choices for cast and crew, with reports suggesting that Mohanlal's cameo role has been dropped due to his high remuneration demand of ₹30 crore.
The film's genre is reportedly a gangster action drama, set in Kolkata, and will explore themes of family emotions. With the production delays, fans will have to wait longer to see Chiranjeevi and Bobby's next project hit the big screens.
