The massive success of Dhurandhar, directed by Aditya Dhar and starring Ranveer Singh, has turned the franchise into one of the most valuable properties in Bollywood. The first film, released in December 2025, became the biggest Bollywood film in India, far exceeding expectations. Its record-breaking performance has paved the way for a potential expansion of the franchise.

As the sequel Dhurandhar: The Revenge prepares for release on March 19, 2026, advance ticket sales and premiere bookings indicate extremely high demand. Industry analysts are predicting a record-breaking opening at the box office, prompting Jio Studios to reportedly urge Dhar to begin developing Dhurandhar 3 and expand the franchise into a larger cinematic universe.

While trade sources say Dhar has some ideas for a third chapter and may even include a post-credits tease in the upcoming film, the director has not committed to continuing the series yet. After spending more than two years on the project, he may prefer exploring a completely different story instead of turning the franchise into a formulaic universe.

Dhar remains under a first-look deal with the studio and will direct another film for them in the future, whether or not it continues the Dhurandhar saga. The unprecedented success of the franchise has given the director considerable leverage in choosing his next project.
