Maargan (2025) Movie: Artists Review

Vijay Antony performed well in the role of the top police officer. He showed good expressions and emotions and carried the intensity on the screen while dealing with criminals and showed subtle mannerisms while carrying the investigation. He played a subtle role without indulging in any heroics and enacting unnecessary stunts. Vijay Antony used to play such roles earlier and he came up with similar serious expressions.

Ajay Dhishan on debut did well in the role of a person who possesses supernatural powers. He showed variations in his role and mannerisms. Samuthirakani sparkled in a small role.  Brigida Saga is good in the role of Vijay Antony's assistant. Deepshikha, Mahanathi Shankar, Vinodh performed according to their roles.

Maargan (2025) Movie: Technicians Review

Maargan story is penned by Leo John Paul. On his debut Leo John Paul decided to come up with an investigative thriller. He chose a story and blended it with supernatural elements. He started the narration and did not deviate from the main plot and right from the first frame.

He tried to explore the thriller from the supernatural elements of the ancient sages and while this generated interest, he failed completely in his execution. The entire narration turns predictable and the scenes look forced and artificial lacking the required twists and turns to surprise all.

Though the director tried to reveal the killer's identity during the final stages, the explanation and the message he intended to give got diluted completely. He conveniently tried to brand the people of Dharavi, Mumbai and this turned out to be another big minus.

Almost all the crime thrillers start in the same way. However within minutes the director narrates in such a way that this is different. The conversation between DGP and Swimmer increases interest and the end of first half increases the interest levels.

While the first half is evenly spaced with little drags here and there, the momentum picks up in the second half.  However as the investigation goes forward the pace dips and also the hero flashback impacts the flow. Though the investigation process starts interestingly it loses steam as the story goes forward.

Vijay Antony, with his background music, elevated the scenes and generated the interest levels, keeping viewers glued to the screens. Cinematography of S.Yuva is good, capturing the mood and intensity of the narration, and editing of Leon James is quite good. The crisp runtime is an advantage. Production values are decent.

Maargan (2025) Movie: Rating Analysis

Altogether, Maargan turns out to be an average thriller. Director Leo James Paul promises much, along with Vijay Anton,y as he came up with an interesting concept. However, the lack of twists and turns, the failed execution hampered the final output. Little fine-tuning of the script and screenplay could have added value to the final output. Considering all these aspects Cinejosh goes with a 2 rating for Maargan.
