Hyderabad, Aug 28:

Admitting irregularities in the operation of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (Ttd) Trust Board and deep differences among the members, the Minister for Endowments, Mr Gade Venkat Reddy, on Friday made it clear that the board will not be abolished.

“No doubt there are certain differences among the Ttd Trust Board members. But that does not mean that the whole system is at fault. There is absolutely no need to abolish it. We will take some corrective measures to bring coordination among the members and also with the Chairman,” the Minister told media persons on the Assembly precincts after the House was adjourned for the day on Friday.

Mentioned about the missing of valuable jewelry of Lord Venkateswara and other temples in other parts of the State, he said that the State Government is taking measures to bring the trust to light. The Minister said that necessary amendments are being made in the system to lease out the endowment lands to the farmers.

“We are seriously thinking of taking some steps in this regard and the matter is under active consideration of the Government. This is only aimed at putting the issue on the right track,” he explained.

Jewelry safe: Meanwhile, TNN reports from Tirupati that the ‘missing’ jewelry of the Hathi Ram Mutt in Tirupati is safe. The Joint Commissioner, Endowments, Mr Vijay Kumar, told media persons in Tirupati that the valuables are in safe custody of the local court. He made it clear that the jewelry is not with the Chandragiri branch of the State Bank. “They are in the Safe Deposit Box of the court,” he added.
