The officials at Prakasam barrage said that by afternoon the water level in the dam would reach to normal level. The water level in the dam is 18.4 ft. The inflow in the dam is 8.61 cusecs and outflow is 8.44 cusecs.

However, the breach in Krishna Right Flood Bank near Voleru 60 km downstream of Prakasam barrage in Guntur district has partially inundated Repalle town, and 20 surrounding villages fully, forcing residents to be shifted to Bhattiprolu, Repalle outskirts and Nagaram.

The Krishna district collector on Tuesday sounded read alert for next 24 hours as flood situation in the district looks grim. Though the water level receded in some areas, the bunds are weak in some points, he explained. As the flood water submerged Vijayawada pumping station, the city people are facing acute shortage of drinking water, he said.

Arrangements are being made to remove silt water from the pump house, he added. The drinking water supply would be resumed by afternoon. However, he asked the people to drinking only boiled water to prevent water-borne diseases.
