 Minister for Health and Family Welfare Danam Nagender on Monday said that the state government was taking all preventive measures to contain the deadly swine flu disease in the state and create awareness among people on ill effects of the disease.

Talking to media persons here, he said that as many as 215 people have been afflicted with deadly swine flu disease in the state.

The Minister said that the health authorities were fully alert and all precautionary steps were being taken to ensure that the virus does not spread. He asked people not to panic in view of four deaths reported from the city.

He said that all the passengers at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport are being screened to detect early symptoms of flu.

As the disease spreads fast, the government would establish swine flu testing centres at Vijayawada, Visakhapatnam and Warangal to contain the disease. All swine flu positive patients in the city have been responding well to the treatment notwithstanding low temperature.

In coordination with the department of school education, efforts would be mounted to undertake ‘school health programme’ among all the school going children to prevent incidence of any illness that could endanger their lives.

He said that sufficient quantity of Tamiflu tablets have been made available for treatment of the disease.Every district medical centre across the state would soon get a doctor trained in handling flu, he said.
