Tollywood movie lovers expected a powerful blast from New Year to Sankranti with Rajamouli's RRR and Prabhas' Radhe Shyam. With both the films opting out of the race following the rising covid cases, Sankranti slot has been taken by Nagarjuna's Bangarraju and small films, Chiranjeevi's son in law Kalyaan Dhev's Super Machi, Dil Raju's nephew Ashish Reddy's Rowdy Boys and Krishna's grandson Galla Ashok's Hero.

But the latest releases Super Machi, Rowdy Boys , Hero along with Nagarjuna's Bangarraju failing to set the screens on fire and fizzed at the box office, Natasimha Balakrishna's high octane mass action entertainer Akhanda directed by Boyapati Srinu roared much to the delight of the masses. The film ran with packed houses in many places though many films like Nani's Shyam Singha Roy and Allu Arjun's Pushpa released.

Allu Arjun's Pushpa missed the advantage as the film started streaming on Amazon Prime. Akhanda makers decision to lock the OTT streaming date on January 21 is doing wonders for the film at the box office.
