Sandeep Reddy Vanga Reacts to Raptadu Incident

The Raptadu incident in Anantapur district has triggered widespread outrage across Andhra Pradesh. On October 31, a 21 year old man allegedly entered a Zilla Parishad school classroom and attacked two Class 10 girls with a chainsaw. One student suffered critical injuries, while the other was hurt trying to protect her.
The incident soon sparked a debate on social media, with some users bringing up a classroom gun sequence from Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Animal, starring Ranbir Kapoor. They questioned whether films that depict extreme violence could influence people in real life and criticised the filmmaker over the scene.
Sandeep Reddy Vanga has now hit back at those using the tragedy to target cinema. He said the first response to such incidents should be sympathy for victims and an honest examination of the real causes, rather than making films an easy scapegoat. He also accused some people of using the tragedy to settle personal scores.
The director further criticised certain actors, filmmakers and producers, alleging that they wait for such incidents to attack others while presenting themselves as social reformers. He stressed that the concern should be about the victims and their families, not personal agendas. Sandeep Vanga ended his message by saying a tragedy deserves empathy, not opportunism.
